The Genius of Photography ep1 pt4

i find it interesting how a shadow or specific lighting can compleltly change the mood of a photograph. This also reminds me of Yousuf Karsh and how he used specific lighting to create his photograph and how he went to the extent to use specific light just on hands. I also found it interesting how portraits have changed through time.

The Genius of Photography ep1 pt6

I found the images a bit disturbing, but it changed all of criminal science. It also made it alot easiar for investigators to make a refrence to a crime scene. i thought that the picture of the past are very interesting, and it's even more interesting how generations have changed and documented through photography

Design by the Book - Episode 2

It's amazing how one place could inspire so many people to create so many things. i think the masks are interesting, i wontder were they came from, i know that masks are made in many different places and each place has it's own style but i love how they all originated form the same place. There are so many resources availible in many librarys it's really to get inspired.

Fall of Autumn Filmstrip: Letterpress Printing

It seems interesting, but it looks a little complicated. It also looks like it would take a lot of time and patience. I also feel like you need to keep everything very organized if not you'll loose everything. i think you need to be really focused on what you are doing, because it seems really easy to mess up.

Sir Ken Robinson: Do schools kill creativity?

i agree with him, what he believe would be some what radical, but they hold a a deep relevance to what we should do to change the school's system and keep creativity within our community, I've realized that the artist with out an education do better in art, like graffiti can't be taught in schools. i think that school art class can sometimes limit a student because most teachers will give a specific thing to draw or paint, limiting a students ability and creativity.

Learn how to screenprint your own t-shirts

I think this video was a good video, but it seems like they are mixing the old with the new, I think if our photo class did these for the school and sold them we could raise money for the club, and to buy newer things. I also seems like it is really hard to get it right the first couple times. they've updaeted the old, with new technology to enhance the look of the t- shirt.

Short Letterpress Documentary (Wonderful)

The letterpress is amazing in that from the distant past it has not changed that much and is still similar to what we use today. Once watching this documentary I now feel that by using the letterpress what you compose from it is more permanent in the sense that it is being actualized and once finished it can not be changed. There is no backspace, no eraseing, and no whiteout if you are to make a mistake. Now I understand why wedding invitations are so expensive, a lot of time, energy, and detail is put into every invitation. The letterpress is like the olden day robots, where they seem alive to us as we watch them work their nuts and bolts are their joints and their bones are made of steel.

Art:21 | Kara Walker

Kara Walker's artwork is unquie unto itself. Her artwork holds a dark undertone, while she uses simple forms of creating the artwork. Each of her silhouetted figures holds their own story that is obvious to everyone who sees her artwork, but if you look closely you will notice the small details will change the story completely and in itself hold another story for the viewer. With the use of a silhouette you are unable to see the face of the people within her artwork. By doing so you are able to place on any face that you can think of and in a way put yourself into the painting making it more relateable.

Art:21 | Gabriel Orozco | On Photography

Within this video the photographer Gabriel Orozco take simple everyday items that many of us would just look over and finds the beauty within them. He takes the simplisticity of life and creates a beautiful form of artwork whether it is within one of his sculptures or one of his photographs. He uses the irony of everyday life and uses things that we see, touch, and use every day within his artwork to make a point of the simplicity of life. It seems like he believes that not everything needs to be frozen in time with a photograph and that some things should be left to just our memory.

click! photography changes who we are

i think that in this video, I find it very insperational that this man is willing to take his heritage to such a length. It is inspirational that he is so affected by what has happened in his past and that it has changed his life choices so he becomes a historian. With the help of photography he has been able to learn so much of his heritage and learn about who he is. He has been able to use pictures as a form of understanding the past and has learn a series of stories and able to see the special moments in time thanks to them. It is honrable to learn from the lives of people who have not made the history books and learn about the everyday man and women.
